What Causes Pain And Burning Sensations In The Soles And Feet?

default
Posted on Wed, 1 Aug 2018
Question: I have had acute FOOT pain (undiagnosed) with burning on the soles and sides for over 2 years. I believe I do have FIBROMYALGIA, but somehow I think it is unrelated. My Dr regularly prescribes Norco for body pain and arthritis, thankfully, because it helps with my foot issues most of the time...what kind of tests should I request? also, what conditions could be causing the horrible pain in my feet? It is so severe, interrupting my sleep...I cannot decide what causes this please help...thank you in advance ps it sometimes feels like I am walking on pillows and they are very hot sometimes red

Brief Answer:
Can be planter fasciitis

Detailed Answer:
Hi! Welcome to Healthcaremagic. Thanks for sharing your concerns with us. We will try to help you in best way possible. First of all it's sad to know what you had been going through lately.

Based on the history you have shared, it is likely that you are suffering from plantar fasciitis and it needs to be evaluated by an orthopedician or rheumatologist. A baseline uric acid levels, RA factor and ESR may be needed to rule out autoimmune flare to be causing it. Other causes work up like blood sugar levels, thyroid profile, D3, B12 and folic acid levels should also be performed.

However using soft soles, or sports shoes, or specialised heel pads in the regular shoes may help to slowly overcome the condition. Rarely local intradermal steroids are needed.

Meanwhile continue the Norco and Lyrica as you already are. Tramadol or nerve pain suppressants like duloxetine or carbamezapine may be needed in severe pains. Supplements for calcium, D3, B12, folic acid can be started alongside.

Wishing you a speedy recovery. Hope this has answered your query. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. Regards
