What Causes Pain And Paraesthesia In The Right Leg?

default
Posted on Fri, 7 Apr 2017
Question: I have a question about pain and paraesthesia in right leg. X-rays and ultrasound were normal. Normal results from electromyography and nerve conduction study(peripheral neuropathy ruled out). Brain mri showed non-specific foci of high T2 and FLAIR signal intensity in the left centrum semiovale, bifrontal subcortical and deep white matters. Could the changes in the brain be a likely cause for the symptoms in my leg?

Brief Answer:
Get investigated as advised and take treatment

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through your question and understand your concern.
The pain in leg may be due to neuropathy or radiculopathy.
The brain changes are incidental and not linked with pain in leg.
Blood investigations like thyroid profile, vitamin B 12, liver function and renal function test should be done to evaluate white matter changes in brain as evident on Mri.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Thank you for your reply. I did have blood work done. Vitamin B12, function, and renal function were normal. The only levels that were outside the laboratory references were Vitamin D at 25 ng/ml and globulin at 3.9. I'm not sure what else I should be doing.

Take treatment as advised

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
You can take pregabalin or gabapentin with vitamin D and calcium supplements.
The pain will go in few weeks.
As all other investigations are normal, nothing to worry about.
Wishing you good health and early recovery.
