Brief Answer:
These tests are recommended.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. Thyroid problems are more common in female patients.

2. These tests are recommended. They are important in diagnosing the thyroid problem. The sonography is important to confirm that it is the thyroid gland causing problems.

3. The thyroid gland is the master gland of the body and controls many body processes by releasing hormones into the blood. Hence the blood tests. Since there is pain, thyroiditis should be ruled out.

4. Other tests can be done depending upon the symptoms. These include anti thyroid antibodies, thyroid scan and so on.

5. Upload these test results either here or directly at bit.ly / Dr-Sumit-Bhatti to discuss further treatment options.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.

Brief Answer:
FNAC is a routine test. Chances of cancer are low.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for writing back.

1. FNAC (Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology) is a highly specific and sensitive test that is routinely done all over the world. A 26 gauge needle is inserted into the target tissue and the aspirate is examined under the microscope to get a tissue diagnosis without a open biopsy. To improve accuracy, this can be done under USG guidance.

2. The chances of cancer in your mother are low and this is more likely to be a thyroid problem. Thyroid management is a complex issue and cannot be explained unless you proceed with these initial tests.

3. Instead of speculating about this, get these tests done and within a 2-3 days you will have a confirmed diagnosis. Treatment can then be planned accordingly.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions, I will be available to answer them.

Regards.
