Question : pain in left side right behind at botton of ribcage. comes and goes. tender when pressed

I can understand your concern.
In my opinion, you are mostly having musculoskeletal pain.
Your pain is increasing when you press it. This also favours musculoskeletal pain.
So do following things for better symptomatic relief.
1. Avoid heavyweight lifting and strenuous exercise.
2. Avoid movements causing pain.
3. Avoid bad postures in sleep.
4. Take painkiller like ibuprofen.
5. Apply warm water pad on affected areas.
Don't worry, you will be alright with all these in 1 week.

I have diverse. Glucose level was 101 this morning two hours after breakfast. Have hypertension but Med's keep it to 120/76

No need to worry for major heart related diseases because your blood pressure is under control with medicine and you are not diabetic.
So possibility of musculoskeletal pain is more.
So follow advice given in previous answer.
If you don't improve in 1 week then get done chest x ray and ecg to rule out heart and lung related diseases.
Sorry, I forgot to ask about smoking history.
