Question: I am a 76 year old female. I am having pressure in head, headaches and ear pain, tingling in the head and now some lightheadedness. I was diagnosed with an ear infection several weeks ago when I had a few of these symptoms. Took antibiotic (ZPac) but symptoms have increased. Problems have been going on for about 2 1/2 weeks.

Brief Answer:
A CT scan is necessary for the diagnosis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HealthcareMagic.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

In some cases ear infection may progress affecting the base of the skull and may result in conditions such mastoiditis, etc. and surgery may be required besides antibiotics.

In such cases, imaging studies such CT scan with thin cuts of the cranial base is an important part of the correct diagnosis.

please discuss with your Doctor about these issues.

Hope this helps.

Take care.
