What Causes Pain, Burning Sensation And Swollen Veins Under Left Breast?

default
Posted on Mon, 4 Apr 2016
Question: I am a 51 year old male. About a month ago, I began to experience a pain under my left breast whenever I would l would raise my left arm up high. It was sort of a burning pain that would lessen after I stretched that area. I also discovered what I believed to be swollen veins in that area under my breast and continuing down over my rib cage and abdomen. Over the last few weeks, the pain has gradually gone away. However, the veins are still swollen. I have a doctor appointment in a little less than two weeks, but I am concerned that I should have a doctor look into this sooner. I am afraid it might be a blot clot. My father has a blood clotting disorder called "Factor V", which caused him to have a stroke. I am concerned I might have Factor V as well and that I might have a blood clot. Do you think it is safe to wait for my scheduled appointment? I have no other symptoms.

Hi,Dear !! Thanks for your query to HCM.
Read and reviewed your facts in context to engorged veins on left chest.
In view of this, I would suggest you to just relax and Don' worry about it.
In My Opinion you seem to have Pectoralis Minor(PMS-Syndrome) -V -TOS-Venous Thorasic outlet syndrome. The burning pain which occurred earlier went off after some time.
This suggests the entrapment of Axillary Vein from exertional stress on left chest muscles would be the reason for this.
Besides this You need to check out your coagulation factor V,as familial possibility, causing Axillary Vein thrombosis-leading to prominent Chest Veins on left chest and abdomen.
Besides this other causes need to be worked out.
For this I would suggest you to have CT Neck for Extra Cervical Rib / and costo-clavicular syndrome as other causes.
AS you don't have any complaints currently you can decide yourself, if the complaints occur.
Keep Me updated on more information in this regard.

Welcome for any further query in this regard.
