What Causes Pain During Urination Post Child Delivery?

default
Posted on Tue, 26 May 2015
Question: Hello,

I recently gave birth 2 months ago. 4-5 days ago I experienced pain during urination and that continued until two days ago. Today I have been experiencing flu-like symptoms including chills, backpain, slight confusion, headaches, frequent mild nausea, body aches and a fever of 102.3 which I checked for the first time an hour ago.

I plan to see a doctor tomorrow but I'm worried that I may need to go to the ER sooner. Should I wait to see the doctor in the morning or should I go to the ER immediately?

Thanks,
XXXXX

Brief Answer:
Mostly urinary tract infection. Go to the ER.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us.

According to your information, it is suggestive of Urinary Tract Infection. One routine urine analysis including culture test will be worthwhile to confirm the diagnosis. You may need to go to the ER for treatment.

TREATMENT: I suggest to take one course of ANTIBIOTIC (like Ciprofloxacin) & URINE ALKALISER (to be taken with water). It will help to control urine infection.

Paracetamol should be taken until fever subsides. Kindly, consult with ER doctor for complete prescription.

PREVENTION: You must drink plenty of water (2.5 to 3 lit/ day) to flush out the body toxin, take cranberry juice (one glass) regularly, maintain genital hygiene (during sexual activity) properly, empty bladder in time, avoid unprotected sex (use condom until problem is solved) and wear clean-cotton underwear only.

Hope, it helps for your information. Kindly, close the discussion if you don't have any other query.

Wish your good health and take care yourself.

Regards,
Dr Soumen

Im sorry I must not be clear. I understand it would be best to go the ER but would it be okay to wait 10 more hours to go to the clinic? The reason i ask this is because of finances.

Brief Answer:
You can visit to your doctor in the next morning.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for additional query.

If you have financial problem and are NOT able to go to the ER , then you can await for next morning and visit to your treating doctor.

In the mean time, you should take Paracetamol tablet (500 mg) to reduce body temperature (if available at home).

All the best and good luck.
