What Causes Pain In Chest And Under Left Arm?

default
Posted on Thu, 31 Jul 2014
Question: I'm 37yrs 240lbs. Was on BP meds for high blood pressure. Recently got out of the hospital from being dehydrated, very low BP, Low Potassium, and very low heart rate. All test came back fine. They stated my BP meds caused it. Family doctor took me off my meds. Been off for 2 weeks now, BP is at the high end 129/83, still 40-46 resting heart rate. Sometimes I can feel my heart pounding hard. Tired for no reason. I feel like I have to burp but can't and it's stuck in my chest. Tried Zantac thinking heartburn but no relief. Sometimes I feel on and off pain in my chest and under my left arm. Something I need to worry about? Tired of hospital & family doctor saying I'm ok when I feel it could be something wrong.

Brief Answer:
Were cardiac investigations done?

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

If heart investigations like EKG , 2d echo or stress test were normal , then I would say there is nothing to be concerned about. In that case these symptoms might be related to your heartburn.

If investigations were not done , then on a precautionary note, you can get them done.

If even EKG was done and was normal, then I would suggest you to relax and follow your doctor.

Hope this helps.Regards.

A EKG was done once in the ambulance when i almost past out at work. They did another EKG at the hospital and from what was told they where fine along with normal blood test. 3 bags of fluids and taken potassium pills i was feeling little better and when home 10hrs later. 2yrs ago I was in and out of the hospital with severe migraines. I found out about my low heart rate and high BP. I had a stress test done and that was normal. They did an ultrasound and my blood flow was fine, just slightly enlarged heart/main blood vessel caused by my high BP. Heart Rate was low in the 40's for resting state. My BP was 150/101 when they put me on BP meds. They found the right meds and i was doing great. BP normal and heart rate was in the 60's. 2yrs later now my HR dropped again to the 40's and now my BP was to low. I am happy I am off the meds. I just want to be normal again. They are checking my BP once a week at my Dr office. Kind of want to see about getting another opinion to make sure they are not missing something.

Brief Answer:
No concerns if both BP and pulse rate are fine

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I would suggest to check BP and heart twice a week for 3 months. You can get a BP apparatus for yourself .Dr office staff can help you with counting pulse rate, if BP apparatus does not show that.

After 3 months you can shift to once a week for 3 more months. Then continue this biweekly for 6 month.

Do maintain a record of these reading. This will not only help you make decision about medicines but also help in early detection if levels falling or shooting up.

Hope this helps.Regards.
