Question : I was bitten and scratched by stray cat approximately 10 hours later at the advice of friends I went to get a rabies vaccination and also a tetanus shot the location of my bites and scratches we're on the rest or forearm area rather and also the palms of my hands when Animal Control called me from the ER the animal catcher stated that he almost lost his hand due to cat scratch fever because he said the infection when you get bit in the hands can spread to the tendons very quickly my concern is I woke up this morning with extreme pain in my forearm I am very worried as this may be the start of cat scratch fever there is no swelling but whenever I move my wrist up and down the top of my forearm hurts as if the tendons are sore my question is is it possible that 24 hours after a cat bite or scratch that I could have the symptoms of cat scratch fever in the arm? I'm hoping that it's from the shots that I got in my right arm I got one shot in my right arm 4 shots in my thigh in one shot in my left

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thank you for the query.
Such infection does not appear righ away after a bite. It usually takes a day or few days. Pain 24 hours after the bite can be the first symptom of such infection. Please do not wait with it and consult a surgeon. Antibiotic should be given.
Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards
