Brief Answer:
It can be neurlogical problem or gout

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have studied your case. Pain in great toe with sudden occurrence in night can be 1.Gout- it is a metabolic problem with raised uric acid in body.To confirm the diagnosis you need to get serum uric acid level.
2.Other common cause can be a nerve compression or neuroma in toe.
3.Rarely it can be caused by toe arthritis.
So i would recommend you to get your check up from orthopaedic surgeon. He may advised you to get uric acid level and MRI of the feet. On the basis of these tests we can decide further management.
If it is gout than you need to take uric acid lowering diet and medicines.
I hope this answer will be useful for you.Let me know if there is any other followup questions.
thanks
