Question: slightly Hi. I have been having a soreness type pain to the left of my belly button about an inch from it. for about 10 weeks now. Some days it's not there and others it is. It's more noticeable when I drive or lean forward in a chair or slightly tense my abdominal muscles. I've has a blood test which came back normal apart from my inflamation marker which she said was slightly elevated at 14 I have been having lots of wind on a daily basis maybe more than usual and my bowels are not affected in any way. The doctor just keeps saying see how it is in a few more weeks but I'm extremely anxious about it now as it's been 10 weeks

Brief Answer:
Para umbilical hernia.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome to health care magic. I am Dr Ganesh.

1.The symptoms mentioned by you suggest the most possible cause could be umbilical hernia ( defect in the anterior abdominal wall ).

2.Sore XXXXXXX and noticed bulge when applied pressure when tense abdominal muscle are typical features of hernias.

3.The recommended in investigation in this case will be ultrasound abdomen pelvis - Ultrasound will help to evaluate the defect through the cough reflex and by sitting position to localise and assess the contents of the bulge or soreness what you been experiencing.

4.At the same time ultrasound will rule out all intra abdominal causes - by assessing all solid organs ( Liver, GB, Spleen, Pancreas, Kidneys, Pelvic organs, some extent of bowel)

5.Othere possible cause could be bowel related - in this case try healthy food habits, Avoid - excess fat containing food, junk, spicy, alcohol. Take more of salads, fruits, fibrous diet for better bowel moment and plenty of water - this will help to relieve any bowel related issues ( try this for at least 10 and and see). Good luck.

Brief Answer:
Umbilical hernia.

Detailed Answer:
Hello welcome back, thank you for followup.

No small hernias will some times not able to evaluate at the time of examination and it is normal, ultrasound will help in this case.

Complications in hernia are strangulation of bowel or omenta, if it would have happened its symptomatic with acute pain. Probably there is no strangulation.

Suggest to get a followup with your treating doctor and needful investigation and treatment done. Good luck.

Any thing to ask - please write .
Thank you.
