Thank you for your query.

First of all, I would like to ask you since when does your mother have such complaints?

Is there any medical illness like diabetes, hypertension, etc?

Since when this treatment is going on and is there any benefit with treatment?

According to me, first of all we need to rule out medical illness which I have mentioned.

If she has no medical illness then we need to start psychiatric medications.

For that also detail history and medical examination is necessary.

My mother got back pain initially before 4 months and then after 2 months she started to feel like some thing crawling in the body from head to legs .We consulted orthopedist and mother felt better about back pain but not about the feel crawling some thing.We consulted neurologist and got prescription to use for one month however mother got side effects like legs swelling and vomit sensation.we were asked to stop the tablets and asked to consult the psychiatrist prescribed meprate,escitalopram and lorazepam for one month but no improvement.he again changed the prescription to use vanlafaxine xr 75 mg for 5 days in the morning later two tablets(75+75) and loprazepam,mirtaz in the evening.we started using from 2 weeks before.....she feels better in the night and feels some thing pulling in the body after she took venlafaxine xr..till she took those tablets in the morning she feels better.

please suggest me..

Need to change medication

Hi dear,

If you are in my clinic i would like to change medication from venlaflexine to desvenlaflexine as venlaflexine has more side effects than desvenlaflexine, and in old age it sometimes results in hypertension.

I usually start my patients with 25 mg of desvenlafexine at night and then increase up to 50mg.

Other medication which helps you are Fluoxetine, Low dose resperidone, Pimozide etc..But in this medication you have to watch for EPS (extra pyramidal side effects) side effects.

So if she has pre existing hypertension then quit it.

Crawling sensation in body at this stage has many causes like Infarction in brain or it may be due to secondary depression or anxiety or parasitosis.

So if possible do MRI brain to rule out Infarct.
