Question: what would cause pain in my lower right side and feel that I have to have a bowel movement but can't. I had this a month ago and took aspirin and waited for the pain to ease up. I have broken out in a sweat and felt like I was going to throw up.

Brief Answer:
Clinical evaluation and examination, investigations to get a cause

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
To recapitulate: Female/68 - pain in lower abdomen - feeling of passing bowel movement - but can not - had this a month ago - took aspirin - waited for the pain to ease up - broken out in sweat and and felt nauseated.

The problems may be due to.
Entero-colitis, means inflammation of the small as well as large intestine.
There is feeling of nausea which can be due to the reflex mechanism that the body has.
This inflammation causes the feeling to pass a bowel movement due to irritation but actually does not have feces to come out..
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Tests of stool, blood and urine.
A course of an antibiotic, Metronidazole as required.
If this does not help, then the further investigations may be required. These are colonoscopy, CT scan of the whole abdomen that will certainly find out the cause.
I hope this answer helps in getting a relief, diagnosis and proper treatment.
