Hi and thanks for the query,

It might be of interest to know exactly how this pain started. Was it acute, or gradual, after an exercise or some sought of trauma or not. Also knowing if this is the very first time you are having it or not is important.

You can go on to get a self examination of your breast to check for any nodules, discharge, or lymph nodes palpable around your armpits or around the neck. If all of these are absent, you really might not have to worry.

The first that you are feeling generally unwell deserves your temperature to be checked. If raised, the possibility of an infection should be investigated and probably would require antibiotics in the long run. If not, you need not to worry much then.

I do not think scares of breast cancer should be on your mind at this point for it does not present in an acute manner. However, a family history of breast cancer, or for routine medical check ups, warrants systemic routine clinical reviews and mammograms from your doctor. This should not be the cause of panic here though.

I think you might have a simple trauma, maybe due to a funny position while sleeping, or a movement or something. I suggest you take low dose Acetaminophen for a couple of days first. In case symptoms persist, you might have to see your doctor for a clinical review.

Thanks and kind regards as I wish you the best of health.
