Brief Answer:
compression fracture

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contracting HCM with your health care concerns

You have been experiencing thoracic back pain for a while and it is not related to any muscle pain. The most liekly cause is compression fracture of the vertebral body. These are very common but can be very painful. If you are having sigificant pain then I would recommend that you see your medical provider to get xrays and and pain control treatment. With some fractures they can inject them to help stop the pain.

Another cause of pain could be early sign of shingles. Usually a deep seated pain followed by a blister rash. If you do develop a rash then again I recommend seeing you medical provider for treatment. There are antiviral medications that help the rash and prevent long term pain issues.

In summary
1. possible compression fracture
2. possible shingles
3. See your medical provider for proper Diagnosis and treatment
