What Causes Pain In Neck Radiating To Shoulder Joint And Clavicle?

default
Posted on Mon, 12 Oct 2015
Question: I week ago or so woke up with pain in my neck that protruded down into my shoulder joint and my clavicle. No other symptoms really, but it flares up and aches sometimes and then sometimes it is not as strong. What do you think it could be? I have also been told in the past that I have a straight neck, meaning not much curvature.

Brief Answer:
Cervical spondylosis/X-Ray cervical spine

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.
I am Dr.Ajay Panwar,a neurologist,here to answer your query.

If you would have presented to me as an outpatient with this medical history,I would have told you that with the symptoms you are having,I would like to rule out the likely possibility of cervical spondylosis.

Cervical spondylosis is well known to cause compression of nerve radicles and cause such radiating pain.

So,I suggest you to get a 'Cervical X-Ray' done and please follow-up.

Meanwhile, please start taking anti-neuralgic medicines like amitriptyline or pregabalin.PLEASE TAKE MEDICINES UNDER A PHYSICIAN'S GUIDANCE ONLY.

If you have any further questions,I shall be glad to have you in follow-up.

Regards
Dr.Ajay Panwar,
MD,DM(Neurology)
