Question : Hello I went to a urologist and a digital rectal exam was conducted on me he said everything was OK but slight tenderness I was put on Bactrim for prostatitis however I am now feeling pain in the rectum area could this be prostate cancer? My psa is 0.55 psa free is 0.22 i have hyperparthyroidism that i will have surgey next week . I read on line that this incrrases prostate cancer . Also upon leaving , i was not charged a copay .. Please help

There is negligible chance that this could be a prostate cancer. You need further investigations like imaging and all.

Hyperparathyroidsm causing prostate cancer is also very rare.

I had a cystospy 7 years ago that said i had prostatis . When you say negligible ?

As the tests conducted were normal, I said negligible. If DRE would have been suspicious, further testing would have been necessary. So nothing is suspicious of prostate Cancer.
