Dr. Hanif warmly Welcomes you to my virtual clinic HCM!
I have carefully worked through your case, and can realize your health worries. Being your physician, I will take care all of your medical concerns.

Carrying your son a short distance causes shortness of breath is an indication of the anemia that is very common in women after childbirth. Sometimes it is a continuation of the low Hemoglobin during pregnancy.

Postnatal iron is necessary to take for months after pregnancy too.

Baby takes the nutrition out of the mother's system and makes the mother weaker. After delivery mother needs to work a lot for the care of the baby and it leads to the muscles spasms of the muscles of arms, back, chest muscles which combines with the low Red blood cells and low hemoglobin levels and cause the mother feel symptoms of fatigue weakness and shortness of breath even after a few steps with a little weight in hands.

You need some Blood work:
Complete blood count with differentials.

Management:-
For pain nothing needed to take orally as you already are on pain medication which will suffice the need. You need Thermacare Heat Wraps to be applied on the affected areas and Bengay Ultrastretch ointment to be applied topically.

Take Feosol once daily with breakfast. Take plenty of fluids, green leafy vegetables and salads. Fruits especially avocado and kiwi are good for you.

Have a wonderful time ahead. Hope I answered all of your questions. Let me know if you have any further clinical concerns or doubts. I will be more than happy to get back to you in no time. If satisfied here, please give a generous five star rating and don't forget to close the discussion.
For any disease you have, a timely follow-up after sometime regarding the treatment efficacy and to see any need to change the treatment options is very necessary. Keep a follow up some days after this visit session ends.

Brief Answer:
It may also be cardiac, or due to kidneys or lungs disease too.

Detailed Answer:
I welcome you with a follow up and happily available to answer your doubts.

Well, this kind of pain (if you are not anemic) may be due to heart problems and lung diseases, kidney function failure to some extent.

If heart doesn't pump properly, body doesn't get enough oxygen. The lungs working fine (proper ventilation is there) But there is compromised Perfusion due to less blood supply to lungs to be available to get oxygenated. This causes shortness of breath on exertion when blood demand increases and ischemic pains in the are.

Lungs--if having some disease--heart being normal--now there will be proper perfusion by heart but not enough ventilation to oxygenate the blood. The consequences being the same as were with heart disease.

Kidneys if don't properly excrete wastes and function is compromised, there is back pooling of in-excreted fluid and causes fluid in lungs accumulation. This leads to shortness of breath.

To rule this all out I need your:
Comprehensive metabolic panel (with kidney, liver thyroid and lipid profiles).

Have a wonderful time ahead. Hope I answered all of your questions. Let me know if you have any further clinical concerns or doubts. I will be more than happy to get back to you in no time. If satisfied here, please give a generous five star rating and don't forget to close the discussion.
