Question : pain in the right poster pelvic quadrant, size of a golf ball, not brought on by R.O.M to gluts or hip extensors or hip abduction. no pain with resisted hip ext, abd. pain on palpation, slight swelling, under palpated area and increase warmth to touch. Pain ++ when sitting too long. Hot yoga doesn't help. No pain in P.S.I.S joints so not ligament inflammation. Could this be a cyst of some kind below the muscles . Has been going on for 4 months and is now worse. Very painful when twisting back in lying or standing. should we have him go for an MRI or Ultra sound to rule out cystic properties? thank you for your advice. XXXXXXX XXXX
Brief Answer:
Get an MRI scan
Detailed Answer:
Hi Sir.
I understand your concern.
As per your clinical description, this could be a space occupying lesion in the right posterior quadrant of pelvis.
I Advise you to have an MRI scan instead of an ultrasound to detect the lesion with great degree of accuracy.
MRI can also rule out cystic properties if any.
Post your further queries if any.
Thank you.
