My son's pain has been on going for approx 25-30 days, stated he felt it might be back pain, but generated over the days to lower right abdomen.
Yesterday 6/2/16 in the afternoon the pain became moderate
No fever, chills, just a feeling of overall not well
No urinary complaints, normal bowel movements
Yes , sitting gives him more pain
No pain in the scrotum or inner thigh
Ct scan and ultrasound scans negative
Pain in localized area lower right abdomen
No history , son in good health with the exception of occasional back pain
Doctor/PA in XXXXXXX suggested he get a ct scan , but because of his pain, we decided to go to Emergency Room for help, and they did a ct scan and ultra scan and the radiologist said no indication of hernia or appendistis
Should we see an internist or general surgeon?
Can you advise further ?

Brief Answer:
General Surgeon.
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your detailed feedback:
Salient points are:
- pain 25-30 days
- thought of back pain - generated over the days to right lower abdomen.
- sitting gives him more pain.
-Since CT scan and Ultrasound are are normal, it is possible that the pain may be due to colitis or typhlitis- in this condition there will be local tenderness on pressure.
- I think you should consult a General Surgeon. He can have clinical evaluation, examination and correlation with the reports to get a probable diagnosis.
- Examination of the back is also needed to see if there is any local problem, whether there is referred pain from the back coming on to the right lower abdomen and if felt so may need MRI of the lower spine.
Hernia is more of a clinical diagnosis by direct examination by palpating for the bulge of the hernia as 'impulse on coughing' and a General Surgeon is best trained to examine this
I hope this answer helps you, please give feedback.
