Hi xxxx
Thanks for writing in to us.

A pain in testis can be due to many reasons. As you are having acute and short duration pain, it can be due to infection called epididymo orchitis. This can occur even when you observe proper hygiene. In this condition there is pain more when in standing position and there i s relief when lying down. This is usually treated with pain killers and a short course of antibiotics. Medicices usually taken are Diclofenac 50 mg after food twice a day for pain relief and antibiotics are to be taken only with prescription (eg Amoxycillin or Ciprofloxacin) after consulting a surgeon.

The other cause of acute pain in testis is due to testicular torsion. In this condition there is severe unbearable pain in testis both in standing and lying down positions. The testis also shows swelling and redness. Sometimes there is partial torsion and the pain comes down after 2 - 3 days. If you had severe pain then you should consult a surgeon to rule out this condition.

Pain in testis can also occur after injury. If you had an injury then you have to take pain killers and wear loos inner clothes for some days.

If the pain is persistent even after taking medicines than you need to get an ultrasound scrotum to look for any disease condition like cysts or masses.

Hope your query is answered.
