default
Posted on Fri, 20 Jan 2017
Question: I have been experiencing upper bicep-elbow pain. I have noticed that my hand and arm become weak when this flares up. I have been having these flare ups off and on since October. I have also been having shaking in my thighs and knees when going up or doen stairs. What could be going on? Could this be ALS?

Brief Answer:
It's too early to make the diagnosis of ALS

Detailed Answer:
Hi! Welcome to health care magic! Thanks for sharing your concerns with us. We will try to help you in best way possible.

First of all, it is sad to know what you had been experiencing lately. Based on the history you have shared, it is too early to jump at any such diagnosis as many small micronutrients defficiencies like Vitamin B12, D3 or folic acid may present with such weaknesses so I would suggest you to get the levels done and start replacements.

Also get a detailed neurological examination done as it will help to narrow down causes and extent of such weaknesses. Also CT scan or MRI may also be needed as part of neurological work up. After that most revealing information can be obtained by NCS and EMG.

Wishing you a speedy recovery. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Regards.
Note: For further queries, consult a joint and bone specialist, an Orthopaedic surgeon. Book a Call now.
