Question : I have injured my bicept in the dominate right arm. Every time I now try to put any resistance with that arm, such as simply opening a zip lock bag can pull something very painful over top of my bicept. At first I thought I was developing a nice muscle...........LOL.........but then realized my left arm, which I'm have to do anything that require strength to use, does not have that. In fact I have lost 167 ibs from RNY Gastric Bypass 11 years ago, but along with the weight and fat loss, also went my muscles. I am really pretty weak. I am 60years old and am a hairdresser...a right handed hairdresser. I have a massage therapist who is very good and he is alarmed when I showed him the enlarged bicept and made me call my MD for an MRI, which has not happened yet. He feels I may have torn ligaments or tendonds awhile back when I pulled that muscle using my Total Gym or from a time I tried to replace a large bottle of water in the cooler and almost dropped it so I jerked. A chiropractor stood behind me and pulled my bent are towards his chest and popped something back in. There has been off an on problems ever since both instances. HELP! What do you think I may have injured?

Brief Answer:
Torn muscle likely.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
From the description it seems that you have a torn muscle fibers or tendon. This is causing the pain and swelling. This needs a rest to heal properly. You need an MRI scan to find out the type and extent of injury you have suffered. Till then avoid all the painful movements and use an arm sling to rest the arm. Do not do any overhead movements. Do a cold compress in the area of swelling and take a mild pain killer to reduce the pain and inflammation.
I hope this answers your query.
