Question : This began with very sore eustachian tubes, hard to swallow. The congestion moved down to the chest with very painful cough and horrible-looking mucus. I don't remember ever having had a cold quite like this. Decongestants don't seem to work like they have with colds/flus I've had in the past. I don't sense a fever. I also have a runny nose, with thick mucus.
Brief Answer:
Acute pharyngitis

Hi
Thanks for putting up query
According to your history you have acute pharyngitis..with eustachian tube blockage
painful cough might be due to inflamed pharynx
take antibiotics alongwith decongestants
also take steam inhalation and do saline gargles
take lozenges for a soothing effect
also take a dry cough syrup
symptoms usually take 5-7 days to subside
wishing you a speedy recovery
if u have any further questions, i would be delighted to help..
