Question : I sure hope so. Several years ago the VA said I needed a BAHA (Bones Anchored Hearing Apparatus. So I went with their recommendation. The BAHA was implanted on my right side, a little above and a little behind my right ear. It turned out to be quite a lengthy surgery. About 4 hours. (Problems intabating me) when I came out of surgery and finally woke up, my legs and hands started screaming with pain. I had never felt that before. The left side of both lower legs and feet were swollen and looked like a chemical burn under my skin. XXXXXXX I had full blown neuropathy in both lower legs , feet, and hands. Can you explain this? People think I am crazy or making it up.
Brief Answer:
Neurological examination/Nerve conduction studies
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.
I am Dr.Ajay Panwar,a neurologist, here to answer your query.
I have gone through the details you mentioned and of course, apparently the said surgery should not cause nerve damage. However,at the same time, the symptoms can't be neglected.
Nerve conduction studies may show whether nerves are normal or not. I would suggest you to visit a neurologist in person for physical examination, so that hints on examination guide further investigations.
Hope that helps. If you have any further questions,I shall be glad to have you in follow-up.
Regards
