Question : My Five year old son complained this morning about pain in his groin area. When he came home from spending the day with gma, he said it again just now. He said something about when he was climbing on his fort yesterday with is friend. I touched where he says it hurts and it's painful to the touch for him. It's not like that on the left side, just the right side. It's not bruised or doesn't look swollen but it feels like little peas under the skin, but I can only touch it for a second because he says it hurts.

I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concern. Incidentally, a careful clinical examination is needed in this case. A number of possibilities need to be ruled out. For example, it could be due to a simple muscle spasm. If that is the case, giving him paracetamol should help in providing relief. Hot compress may also help. Another possibility is hernia. Lymph node swelling is another possibility. With the'peas' under skin this is rather more likely. It can happen in case of some localized infections. It is no use frightening you with myriad possibilities. I would rather insist you to visit a doctor and to get him evaluated.
