Brief Answer:
Infection of the hair follicle. Nose strips / disks recommended.

Detailed Answer:
Dear,

When you speak of painful hair roots, you are talking of hair follicles which actually have glands attached to them, in the same manner as a plant arises from the ground. These secrete a substance called sebum. The fact is that when these hair roots get infected by germs, you get the symptoms you have just described. If infected, and itching, pain or discomfort ensues, please see a dermatologist for this purpose. The Dematologist may probably give you Griseofulvin FP tablets or Steroid + Miconazole cream to apply over the scalp. Or, after examining your liver, he could give you Ketoconazole.

I highly recommend a nasal disk for you, as when it is positioned correctly, it makes it slightly difficult for all the inhaled air to be exhaled. Thus it creates a subtle back pressure and keeps the lungs patent. This is as good as CPAP. It's cost effective, efficient and a very feasible solution.
