What Causes Pain In The Jaw While Chewing?

default
Posted on Mon, 12 Sep 2016
Question: Hi Doctor,

I have pain at the end of my left jaw right below my ear, the dentist here says that the wisdom tooth is growing crossly. However I don't feel pain around my tooth area and inside, pain is only on the outer part. Pain is more when I chew and lift my head.
So I was wondering if it is really with the wisdom tooth, if so I prefer to go with the extraction immediately as I am traveling abroad this Friday.
Please help

Brief Answer:
Wisdom tooth can be a cause, please upload x ray..

Detailed Answer:
Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain if a wisdom tooth is growing across and not in correct alignment then it can be a probable cause for pain in the area you mentioned..

In such cases when the wisdom tooth is impacted then extraction of the tooth is the only option..

But I would first like you to get an x ray done and upload it here so that I can evaluate it and guide you appropriately..

As of now for pain relief you can take pain relievers like Ibuprofen, Diclofenac, Naproxen etc..

Any further queries are welcome..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
