Question : My knee hurts when I bend it and rotate my foot to the side. What could cause this ? I was riding my bike yesterday. I didnt fall or get hurt. It doesnt hurt walking or going upstairs. I have no brusing or swelling.

Hi there.

It is possible that you may have sustained a knee joint sprain.

It is advisable to keep the knee immobilised in a long knee brace for 10 days atleast and the limb elevated.

You can take pain killers and also avoid full weight bearing for the same period.

After 2 weeks, get your knee examined by an Orthopaedic surgeon to rule out ligament or cartilage injury.

There are certain clinical tests which your Orthopaedic surgeon would perform 8n the Clinic to find out if you have tear. Also an MRI scan of the knee can tell about this.
