When she lies on bed, she does not have that pain. this has been for last 7 days. She has tried medicines but nothing helped. What should she try now? Unfortunately she is alone and can not visit a doctor on her own.

I have gone through your query and understand your concern. Your mother is likely to be having osteoarthritis of knee joint as it is common in her age. It can be confirmed by x ray of both knees in standing. She can be benefitted by diclofenac and paracetamol combination drugs such as Dicloran A two times a day after meals. Omeprazole empty stomach prevent acidity caused by these drugs. Rest to joint and hot fomentation will be of help.
You can discuss with your doctor about it.
Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then I will be happy to help you.
Wishing you a good health.
Take care.
