Brief Answer: Not related Detailed Answer: Hello Thanks for the query Pain in the lower rib area is most likely unrelated to the sore throat, the pain could be because of a minor trauma or muscle ache if he has been coughing as well due to the sore throat. Here are my suggestions 1. Avoid milk and milk products until he recovers 2. Avoid cold beverages 3. Gargling with warm salt water three times a day will help in faster recovery 4. If he develops fever please approach a physician to start him on antibiotics 5. Tab paracetamol three times day will help him with the pain 6. If the pain does not subside or increases then please approach a physician for a chest x ray I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me Regards
