Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Without the benefit of being able to do an exam, here are my thoughts on this:

1. Pain in the area of the lower rib cage and below it can be from acid reflux and gastritis. This can cause a sore feeling in the stomach area.

2. Bright yellow urine can be from vitamins containing B vitamins (gives it a neon yellow kind of color) or it can be from drinking less water.

3. Colon pain from diverticulitis can also cause pain in this area (although usually lower down such as the left lower abdomen or right lower abdomen) but it doesn't sound as though the pain you are having matches what your symptoms have been in the past.

4. Are you taking Aleve? You wrote Alive, and I am not sure what that is and am wondering if it is a typo. Aleve, which is ibuprofen, can cause stomach lining irritation and gastritis.

5. Stomach pain is usually more of a constant gnawing or burning, colon problems are usually more cramp in nature. I assume yours is more of the stomach type than colon type?

Here is what I recommend:
Stop the Aleve (if that is what you are taking).
Take Zantac (ranitidine)

If the pain worsens, or if you are having any vomiting, bleeding, black tarry stools, then go in to be seen right away. Note that Pepto Bismol can cause grey-black stools but they should not be tarry in appearance.

Go in to see your doctor if the Zantac and following recommendations don't start to help you.

Avoid acidic foods such as citrus and tomatoes.

No alcohol, aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen; decrease caffeine intake.

Eat only small amounts at a time.

Hope I have answered your query.
