Question : Hi Dr. XXXXXXX
just an update on my condition, i only have one more day to finish the Nitrofurantoin with Flavoxate. My condition is not completely gone. Some days it had reduced a lot and other days sensitivity/pain increases in both rectum and urethra..It may have inflamed a few time because i have gently touched tip penis urethra side to check for any redness inside or also sometime after self ejaculation. I am not sure what to do next. Any advice doctor? should i try doxycycline for instance? thanks and regards

Thanks for writing again .

The occasional pain and discomfort especially after masturbation is bound to be there for 2-3 days but it will help to shade out the prostatic secretions and relieves congestion.

I would suggest you to get swab test of urethral secretion done to rule out any active bacterial infection .

You may take Doxicycline twice daily for a week .

I have done urine and semen culture before during the pain and results were all negative for any growth...also doctor the last swab pcr test i did was in urethra and gave negative results for std and sti...i have the reports attached in my profile

Discomfort in pelvis and urethra after ejaculation does occur due to congestion of urethra and what is termed as Abacterial Prostatitis.In such situation best way to take anti inflammatory drug like Diclofenac twice daily along with Doxicycline .
