Brief Answer:
if no other urinary symptoms , unlikely kidney

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Diseases of the kidney or any aspect of the urinary tract ( ureter, bladder, urethra) are normally associated with additional urinary symptoms eg change in the frequency of urination, change in the color or odor of urine, blood in the urine, change in appearance of urine (eg frothy etc), pain or difficulty with urination.

If you do not have any additional urinary symptoms then the pain is likely related to the muscle especially if you have been increasing your physical activity levels.

You can try the use of topical pain aids since you prefer not the use oral medication.

The pain should decrease as your muscles become use to the increased activity.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
