Question : I am XXXXXXX After Colostomy examination my colen bursted and I needed major surgery, partial removal of large colen, reestablished in 98. Got alcerus colitis, through much running to bathrooms, fell and broke fema. Ended up, that I had major surgery to remove all colen, left with bag exit. This took place 2004.
Have lot of gas building, best result with Charcoal caps, watching my diaet as well and that I don't get blockage. I am 92 years old, have daily updominal pain, have to lay down or at least sit and hopefully have pain pill and charcoal cap with me. At this point, operations make no sence. In last 2 years had 2 heart operations, (Taver for Aota valve replacement and mitral valve clippings.) The updominal pain bother me most, besides Knee bone on bone and shoulder tear.
Do you have any suggestions for medication of updominal treadment ?
I greatly appreciate your listening !

Brief Answer:
It could be due to Gastritis.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Pain in upper abdomen is commonly due to Gastritis (Acid peptic disease).I prescribe proton pump inhibitor like Rabeprazole 20mg twice daily before food to my patients with similar complaints.
If there is no response, Ultrasound abdomen has to be done to exclude Gallbladder, Liver,Kidney etc lesions.
You should take frequent small feeds.
Nothing to worry.
Hope I answered your query. If you have any questions, I will clarify further.
Wish you good health.
Regards
