Question : I have just today developed a very painful sensation at the very top of my stomach. It's actually in the middle, just exactly below the sternum and in between the two sides of my rib cage. It can be brutal to move and leaves me short of breath, as well.

Pain in the upper middle portion of the stomach between ribs can be due to Gastro esophageal reflux disease as Esophagus joins the stomach there.In this case, I prescribe Proton pump inhibitor like Rabeprazole along with Levosulpiride tablet.
Diseases of heart and lungs can cause upper abdominal pain .As you are treated for Arrhythmias, heart problem should also be ruled out.
You should consult your doctor, get examined clinically and proceed accordingly. Simple ECG will exclude Arrhythmias.
