What Causes Pain Near Parotid Glands, Ear Pain And Nausea?

default
Posted on Mon, 10 Nov 2014
Question: For 6 months I've been having pain in the area of my parotid glands. I can sometimes feel the fluid surging in there and it also causes ear pain and nausea. I had a CT scan of the soft tissue in my neck and it came back normal so my doctor (ENT) is confounded and doesn't know what to do to help. He is unwilling to explore further since the scan didn't show any problems. So I continue to suffer with the pain and nausea. Please help if you can.

Brief Answer:
May be suffering from Trigeminal Neuralgia

Detailed Answer:
Hi Mam,
I have gone through your query; it suggests that you may be suffering from the Trigeminal Neuralgia.

For your kind information Trigeminal Neuralgia most commonly involves the middle and lower branch of the trigeminal nerve, but the pain may be felt in the ear, eye, lips, nose, scalp, forehead, cheeks, teeth, or jaw and side of the face.

Carbamazepine is the drug of choice for this disease.

But to rule out other disease you may go for detail examination of the ear, nose, throat and neck.

Thanks
