Question : I am having pain on my right side under my rib cage. It has been getting worse. I have had this issue for a long time, but no doctor can figure out what is wrong. They have even removed my gallbladder and there has been no change. Lately the pain is worse goes up into my right shoulder and down into my hip. After I eat I feel sick to my stomach.
Brief Answer:
Liver MRI scan
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Noted your Medical History of Hemochromatosis.
You have a typical pain-
''right side under my rib cage''
NOT relieved by Cholecystectomy,
referred to right Shoulder,
no Doctor could figure out the cause yet,
All this lead me t think of the obvious - the cause can be the disease of the liver- involvement by hemochromatosis- giving you a typical pain at a typical location and typical referred pain to right shoulder.
I would recommend you to consult a Doctor, preferably a Gastro/ Hepatologist and request for MRI of the liver to get R2-MRI (also known as FerriScan
- if available) OR to undergo liver biopsy.
This would give you diagnosis.
A proper treatment of Hemochromatosisunder care of a Hematologist can definitely help you to get rid of pain.
This is one of the most probable possibility I am thinking of.
The pain '' down into hip'' may also be related( but difficult to explain) to the same.
The feeling sick to stomach after eating can be due to the same problem.
Brief Answer:
thanks for feedback
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for feedback.
This may again be a referred pain from the same condition.
I hope your upper GI endoscopy has been done and is normal.
