What Causes Pain Radiating Between Hip, Groin And Thigh Area?

default
Posted on Mon, 29 Dec 2014
Question: ok so I have pain from the hip pointer of my right hip going down my right thigh inner and front. also going into my groin area for about a month now. I have been evaluated and check for palpable hernias and given ct scans and an ultrasound for inguinal hernia. all have been negative. however it feels like pressure down beneath my hip. kinda like the ilipsoas but I'm not sure. the more movement I do the worse it gets. rest seems to make it better but not for long. I lifted a 150 lb tarp a month ago that's how it started. it is a constant dull ache. also when I cough sneeze poop pee or do a situp it does not bother me. I am afraid and nervous please help.

Brief Answer:
Likely to be muscle sprain

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day

Dear Mr XXXX,

As you have undergone thorough clinical examination and detailed investigation including CT scan its unlikely that any significant pathology is missed out. So going by your description there seems to be no cause for concern.

One of the possibility could be Illiopsoas muscle spasm which could have been precipitated by lifting heavy weight. I would suggest you the following which will definitely help

1. Hot water fomentation: either by applying cloth soaked in hot water or application of hot water bag. It will help relieve associated spasm

2. Bed rest: Taking complete rest for couple of days will be helpful

3. Avoid Air-conditioning: Even if its unavoidable to use AC , do not keep the temperature setting below 24 degree celsius . Cold air promotes spams. persistent exposure to cold air is one of the cause for persistent spasm being present.

4. Keep a pillow between your thighs while sleeping in lateral position.

Do keep me updated about progress.

Wishing you a very happy and healthy life

Brief Answer:
Unlikely to be hernia

Detailed Answer:
Dear Mr XXXX

It is unlikely to be hernia as it would have been picked up either by clinical examination or radiological evaluation.
Swelling is quite common at site of muscle tear and usually subsides on its own.
Rest be assured there is no cause for concern.

Take care
