What Causes Painful Cramps In The Left Clavicle Bone?

Question: I have been having what feels like a runner's cramp only on my left side for 3 days now. The same pain is also under my left clavicle bone. The pain is dull and sharpens with every derp breath, hiccup, sneeze or burp. I thought it was gss so I did take gas -x yesterday. I must've had some relief because I was able to sleep last night. Not so today. Tbe pain has returned with s vengeance. Any clue what might be cauding that and what I can do to releive the pain?

To recapitulate: Female/41 - feels like runner's cramp only on left side - 3 days - same pain under left clavicle - dull - sharpens with every deep breath, hiccough, sneeze or burp - took Gas-x yesterday - slept last night - but - returned today - wants to know cause and what can be done. ..

The commonest causes of pain under clavicle on left are:
Costochondritis
Muscle strain
Inflamed pleura
As this is increased with the activities as mentioned by you.

I would advise you the following in such a situation:
- X-ray of the chest
- Clinical evaluation and an actual clinical examination by a Doctor.
- CT scan of the chest in suspected cases or to confirm/rule out the things I mentioned above.
Take plenty of oral fluids.
Take a PPI like Omeprazole and an anti-inflammatory with pain killer properties like
Ibuprofen if it suits you.
Take strict rest so that the symptoms will reduce or vanish.
Get a consultation of your Doctor and a referral for Pulmonologist if need be.
