What Causes Painful Fatty Patches Near Underarms?
Question: Hi, While I have a slim built I have a little fatty patch near both my underarms. If I press there slightly it pains a lot. Is it normal?

Fatty patches are absolutely normal near underarms and are the extension of the normal breast called as tail; and it can extend deep underarm in some people.
The cause of the pains can be:
-Most common is the Fibroadenosis, an usual association in may people. and this is not a cancer.
-Fat necrosis is known to occur although the exact cause is not known.
This can be confirmed by:
-Clinical evaluation and actual physical examination by a General Surgeon.
-Mammography and Ultrasonography.
-FNAC (Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology) preferably under Ultrasonography guidance.
-Biopsy if required
All these things done in a proper manner will confirm the cause whether benign or not. And you get a sound advise and stress-free life.
