Question : Hi Doc, Yesterday i started having severe pain on the left side of my neck joint while going on a journey after 2 hours of sitting in the car(car is VW Passat, so there is lot of space where i was sitting and i was not sitting in one position but still pain started). At some position the pain gets very much lessened and when i move my left head, or move my head towards left side the pain gets severe. Today even though the pain is little less, what could be the reason since i still have the pain? The temperature is normal. I get severe pain on sneezing or coughing.

Detailed Answer:
Dear Sir,

Thank you for posting your query on HCM.

Well looking into your query I will like to tell you that sitting in one position specially during car journey may lead to neck sprain or stiffness of muscle . I dont think there is anything to worry as there is no associated symptoms .

You should a muscle relaxant containing paracetamol and chlorzoxazone after eating something twice daily for 1-2 days as required. Also apply topical paracetamol gel over it . It will subside in a day or two.

Also avoid movements that induce pain and take rest.

Take care.

Dr. Shruti
