The area is tender and pain to touch, does not sting in the presence of water or the antiseptic cream, it happened suddenly and i discovered it during a shower

It is looking like fungal infection.
I treat such cases with a topical antifungal cream like clotrimazole.
It gives good response within a week.
You can try this in consultation with your doctor.
It is a common infection.
Just relax there is nothing serious.
