What Causes Painful Stiff Neck While Suffering From Severe Spinal Spondolosis?

Question: An MRI found severe spinal spondolosis, C1-C6. I have a stiff neck and pains radiating to my left shoulder. I have been enduring this for several months. I'm wondering if relief can be found. Laser Spine Institute?

Another MRI revealed a torn rotator cuff in the right shoulder, with tears in two ligaments.

I appreciate your concerns towards your neck and shoulder problems and it is unfortunate to know about the inappropriate management of your problems.

Regarding the neck problem of severe cervical spondylosis:

Start using neck collar, this will prevent the pressure on the nerves and also you will feel comfortable.

Since you have heart disease, NSAID pain killers should be used with cautions, you may use Paracetamol with Codeine. This combination is found to be efficient and safe in your case.

If the pain persists, you may have take an opinion of Ortho doctor for possible use of Amitryptiline or Gabapentine. You may also need a muscle relaxant like Baclofen.
Inspite of taking the above medications for about 4-6 weeks if there is no improvement then surgery remains the last option,

Regarding the torn rotator cuff in right shoulder:

Physical or occupational therapy.
A skilled therapist assists you with a variety of exercises and stretches to strengthen your shoulder muscles.
Paracetamol with codeine and muscle relaxants.
Steroid injection into the joint will reduce the severe pain not responding to the medicines.

If there is no response to the above treatment surgery is usually done to relieve the symptoms.
