What Causes Passing Of Gas Through Urethra?

default
Posted on Fri, 29 May 2015
Question: I have been passing or it feels as though I'm passing gas through the urethra. I've been seen by both a colorectal surgeon as well as a urologist. Nothing I.e. improper organ connections or fistula have been found. I'm a bit frustrated right now and am not certain whether to continue looking or just leave it alone. Any thoughts?

Brief Answer:
If fistula has been ruled out you need not worry

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Good morning. Welcome to Healthcare Magic.
I am Dr Ramadevi Wani. I will be answering your concerns today.
It is good that you have rightly been seen by Colorectal surgeon and Urologist. If fistula or improper connections are ruled out there is nothing to worry. Infection of urinary tract can also cause this. I am sure urologist must have ruled that out as the first step.
I feel that it is the air passing out from vagina that you are feeling as passing through the urethra. Some women do pass air from vagina and this is normal ( if fistula has been ruled out). Laxity of pelvic floor muscles can be one of the reasons for this. So I advise you to do Kegel exercises daily and see. Instructions on how to do Kegel exercises is available on net. This strengthens urethral and vaginal muscles and you will find some relief.
I hope this helps.
If you have further queries, do write to me. I will be happy to answer.
