What Causes Patches On Face And Neck When Diagnosed With Pityriasis Rosea?

default
Posted on Mon, 1 Aug 2016
Question: Hi,

I was diagnosed with pityriasis rosea on second week of May,at that time i was affected on my abdomen area, after that on 1st XXXXXXX it started progressing to my back, then from second week of XXXXXXX i had these same patches on my face too.Though now the rashes are much better than it was previously but there are uneven patches on my face and on my back and i cannot see them receding.
The patches that were on my abdomen were totally different from those on my back and face.
The patches from my abdomen area are no more, but i still have uneven patches on my face and back, as the patches are very light,i am unable to capture it through my camera and upload it here.
I just want to know that if these patches will go away in some more time or these will stay for a longer period?

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query.
It is unusual for pityriasis roseae to remain for such long.
Can you please upload a photograph of the involved area.
This will help me in giving a closer diagnosis.
Waiting for your response.
Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Use desonide.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

It's looking like pityriasis roseae in resolving stage.
I treat such cases with Desonide lotion to be applied daily in night for a week.
It is a mild steroid.

It's safe and effective and usually available over the counter.
You can try this.

It will help in faster recovery and the rashes will disappear.

Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you.
