Question : Hello, I have a weird white pea sized mass on my tonsil. I dont think its a tonsil stone as it is fleshy and connected to me. Any ideas? Thanks.
Hello, I have a white pea sized mass on one of my tonsils. The mass does not really hurt although my throat is a slight bit sore and I can feel it. I found the mass when scanning my throat for strep as my boyfriend was recently sick and since my throat felt weird I thought id take a peek and I found this? I am a little alarmed as I have never seen anything like this. It is not like a tonsil stone because it is actually like attached to my flesh not just stuck in it. It doesnt look much like anything ive tried googling im just a little concerned as to what it could be and if i should go see a doctor soon. I never did catch what my boyfriend had but now I am just left wondering what is growing in the back of my tonsil!

Brief Answer:
This could be a tonsilar stone.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to Healthcare Magic.
I had gone through your question.
I can understand your concern. Nothing to worry you will be fine. The clinical image you have attached with the question shows the following:
- Enlarged and congested tonsils on both the sides.
- A small tonsilar stone projecting from left tonsil.
Since the mucosa of the tonsil surrounding this stone is congested, you feel like this is some fleshy mass.
- Posterior pharyngeal wall congested and granular.

All these findings could be due to upper respiratory infection.

I recommend the following.
1) A course of antibiotics.
2) Analgesic like paracetamol for pain relief.
3) Salt water gargling. Add a pinch of salt to a glass of XXXXXXX warm water.
This will relieve the pain.
Some tonsilar tonsilar stones gets dislodged during gargling.
If it persists and symptomatic, you need to consult your ENT doctor for removal.

Hope I have answered your question.
If you have any questions, I am happy to help.

Wish you a speedy recovery.
