What Causes Persistent Asymptomatic Growths Under The Skin Of Bulbo-spongiosus And Perineum?

default
Posted on Thu, 14 Apr 2016
Question: I have three unusual, possible growths, under the skin coming out of the bulbospongious of my perineum. They are shaped kind of like cherry stems but they are not all the same size or width. They come out about as far as the fibers in my bulbospongious. They are painless and I have had them for 12 years or so. If they have gotten any bigger it is very minor. I saw my primary care physician about them a few years ago and he thought they were just hardened tissue and not something to be worried about.
If you could give me a more detailed explanation I would be very grateful.
Thanks, XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
No significant symptoms to worry about.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX and welcome to HCM.
As an Urologist, i can fully understand your concern.
XXXXXXX it's very good, that you know medical terms, like bulbo-spongiosus and perineum.
These are two symmetrical muscles, starting in the center of the perineum, in front of the anus, and joining in the base of the penis.

I would like to advise you, to get it examined by an Urologist,as asymptomatic growths in these muscles for 12 years, are certainly not cancerous.
An Urologists' opinion, is certainly better than having a physicians' advice.

If erections are not affected, you don't need to worry about it.
Also, by your description, they're painless, and haven't increased in size.
So,other than there being a hardened tissue in the perineum, you've no symptoms.

All the same, you need to know, what exactly is this hardened tissue.
Before seeing the Urologist, try to get the following tests done:
1. blood routine,RBS,VDRL,HbsAG,HIV,platelets.
2. penile doppler ultrasound scan.
The reports will enable the Urologist, to give you proper treatment advice.

Wish you good health.

Thank you for the information. I am in a new relationship and we have agreed to both get tested for STDs. Today I am getting a 10 panel STD test. The only thing I can not get tested for as a man is the HPV virus. Does what I have sound like anything related to that or any other STD? Most of what I have found about STDs is that the symptoms are infections not painless tissue with no growth. Does that sound accurate to you?

Brief Answer:
STD must be ruled out.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again.

It's good you're both getting STD tests done.
There's no definite tests for HPV in males.

Once this result is known, you're both reassured, if they come as negative.
Most STD infections are painless.
You're right in your understanding about them.
Once detected, they must be treated completely.

If you see the Urologist with these reports,it'll be more helpful.
Till reports are available, have only protected sex.
Wish you well.

Does what I have sound like a symptom of an STD? Also, in your experience have you come across symptoms like mine, if so what was it? Seeing a urologist is very expensive for me. I would really appreciate some more feedback from you.

Std cases may present in same way.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again.

Yes.i have come across several cases of STD, in my practice.
But i doubt, your's is a case of STD.

That's why i advised you to await the STD panel reports.
It's very good that both of you are undergoing these tests.

You may send the reports, once it's available, for an expert opinion.
