Question : I have an ongoing burning pain in my left thumb bone and now recently in my left shin. Any ideas what could be causing this?

The symptoms of the query are quite suggestive of a possible nerve issue called peripheral neuropathy.
The causes of the peripheral neuropathy are numerous. I would need to know your medical history.
I would suggest doing a nerve conduction study to be sure of the diagnosis.
Sometimes, a nerve biopsy may need to be planned.
