Question : Hello, I've had a cough that has persisted over 2 weeks.
It's very itchy in my throats and it is a wet cough.
I can't control the urge to get rid of the itchiness in my throat.

It is a very duck like sound and it gets worse when I'm talking to someone for a long period of time and in the evening when it is colder.

I now also have a cold with a runny nose and am sneezing.

I've had something similar in the past and was told nothing could be done for me.
Is there something I can take or something to do?

Brief Answer:
Possibility of viral upper respiratory tract infection is more likely.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
By your history and description, possibility of viral upper respiratory tract infection (URTI) is more likely.
So do following things for better symptomatic relief.
1. Drink plenty of fluids orally and keep yourself hydrated.
2. Take antihistamine (levocetrizine or fexofenadine) and paracetamol combination twice daily for 5 days.
3. Do steam inhalation and warm water gargles 5-6 times a day.
4. Avoid oily and spicy food. Avoid junk food. Avoid hard to chew food.
You will mostly improve with all these in 5 days.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
